BINBIN updates

We’re helping South Africa to clean up!

What is going on in South Africa?

A lot of companies and households are becoming more aware about waste management, which is great! But there is still more than 50 million tonnes of general waste being generated in South Africa of which only a third is being recycled. Around 1 in 3 people in South Africa lack access to a regular waste collection service, so the open burning of waste is also common. This cannot continue. We all have a role to play, whether you’re a business owner, a university student, or a digital nomad working in South Africa we need to create access for more South Africans to be able to recycle waste. Because waste isn’t just the end; it’s a beginning. The raw materials of waste can be transformed into something purposeful and beautiful.

The first steps

We are thrilled to announce that BINBIN has officially launched in South Africa! Tracey Fared is going to help us fight waste pollution in South Africa as our new managing director, but that is not all! Together with Binspiration, we are teaming up with Million Plus recyclers, to make recycling the normal thing for every South African.

What is Million plus recyclers?

With the hashtag #1person1piece, Million plus recyclers already showed everyone how to recycle at home and at work. Now they want to inspire (young) students to pick up just 1 piece – because one piece from everyone adds up to a lot of recycled material! They are on the mission to get rid of plastic waste in their environment and to make recycling the normal thing for every South African.

Training programs on awareness
Through the BINSPIRATION academy we’re developing training programs for various sectors in South Africa to raise more awareness about sustainability.
Next to Million plus recyclers, we’ve also partnered up with Patricia Pillay from Polyco to take on South Africa’s plastic challenge. Our recent visit to an inspiring school project in Belleville proved that real change starts at the grassroots level.

Join the movement!

Let’s show the world that waste has value and that our choices today shape tomorrow’s world. Waste is only waste, if you waste it!
So, do you want to be part of this exciting journey? Shoot us a message to schedule a meeting. Together, we can turn South Africa’s waste challenge into a success story that’ll inspire the world.
