A Conversation With Tonderai

At BINBIN, we believe real change starts with people who inspire others to think differently. That is exactly why we are proud to welcome Tonderai Chavhanga as our newest BINBIN ambassador. Tonderai is an entrepreneur, business strategist, former Springbok rugby player, and a passionate advocate for collaboration across Africa.

Throughout his career, he has built a reputation for connecting people, creating opportunities, and forming partnerships that leave a lasting impact. These are the same values that drive BINBIN’s mission: building a cleaner, more circular future through smart waste separation systems and sustainability education.
Today, Tonderai focuses on building strategic partnerships between public and private organisations across Africa. He is the co founder of S-Group (Synergy Group), an exclusive business networking community with more than 3,000 members across 40 specialised groups worldwide. The platform connects entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, creatives, sports professionals, and industry leaders, helping them build meaningful relationships and unlock new opportunities.

We are excited to welcome Tonderai to the BINBIN Group and look forward to inspiring more businesses, schools, and communities across Africa and globally to embrace sustainable change.

Building Bridges Across Africa

Many South Africans will also remember Tonderai for his rugby career. Born in Harare, Zimbabwe, he discovered rugby at Blakiston Primary School, where his speed earned him a scholarship to Prince Edward School and later a professional career with the Stormers and the Springboks.

In 2005, at just 21, Tonderai made his Springbok debut against Uruguay and scored six tries, a South African record that still stands today.

It is Tonderai’s commitment to leadership, teamwork, and creating opportunities for others, alongside his growing involvement in sustainability and circular economy conversations across Africa, that makes him a natural fit for BINBIN. He understands that real change takes collaboration, a belief that mirrors our own mission to help organisations reduce waste, increase recycling, and inspire the next generation to protect our planet.

No great achievement happens alone. As Tonderai shows in both business and sport, success depends on trust, teamwork, and a shared goal. Building a circular future takes exactly the same mindset.

“In a team of fifteen, you have players, coming together with their own strengths and weaknesses, working towards one common goal. I think that sustainability can work the same way.”
