Tips on separating waste in the summer
Higher temperatures and sunlight cause waste to smell faster and attract pests, such as flies and maggots, to your bin. Food scraps and organic waste are particularly problematic on hot days. Additionally, we often use different items in the summer, such as disposable barbecues, sunscreen bottles, and swimming pool accessories. These items also need to be disposed of properly!
Fortunately, BINBIN has a smart solution for this. Our handy lids for waste bins prevent unpleasant odors from spreading. The lid closes tightly, keeping your waste neatly in the bin and keeping everything outside nice and fresh. You can order these lids with your bin. This makes waste separation much more pleasant, even in the summer.
Separating waste is also worthwhile in the summer
During this time, we often see more litter, such as plastic bottles on the beach and cans in the park. What a shame! Together, we can prevent this. By properly separating waste and ensuring it doesn’t end up littering the environment, we contribute to a cleaner neighborhood and the reuse of valuable materials. This way, summer stays beautiful for everyone.
It’s time for terraces, ice cream, vacation plans, and long evenings in the garden or on the balcony. At BINBIN, we wish you a wonderful, carefree summer. But did you know that waste separation requires a little extra attention in the summer? Don’t worry; we’re happy to explain and provide simple tips to help you keep your waste neat and fresh, even in the hottest season.
How it works
Follow these simple summer tips to keep your waste bin clean and waste separation pleasant, even at 30 degrees Celsius:
1. Clean your bin regularly.
Rinse it with water and a dash of cleaning vinegar or green soap. Let it dry thoroughly.
2. Put food scraps in the shade.
Do you have organic waste or food scraps? Put the bin in the shade. Heat accelerates the rotting process and causes unpleasant odors.
3. Use newspapers or a biodegradable bag.
Place old newspapers at the bottom of your bin or use a compostable bag. This will prevent waste from sticking and keep your bin cleaner.
4. Close bags tightly.
It is especially important to tie bags tightly when disposing of residual waste and plastic packaging. This will prevent flies from being attracted to the waste.
5. Barbecue waste? Check first!
Ashes and charcoal can only be thrown away in the trash bin once they have cooled down completely. Many parts of disposable barbecues must be thrown away with the residual waste. Check the packaging.
6. Have any summer items left over? Give them a second life!
Think of beach chairs, inflatable pools, and party tents. Are they broken? Take them to the recycling center. Are they still in good condition? Maybe you can make someone else happy by giving them away at a giveaway corner or thrift store.
Enjoy the sun, the outdoors, and all the beautiful moments. Keep it fresh with these waste tips. Do you have any questions about waste separation, or would you like to know how BINBIN can help your organization? We’re here for you this summer, too!
